Dr. Marco Giampaoli is a urologist based in Bergamo, Italy, specializing in minimally invasive surgery, endourology, laser techniques, and the management of kidney stones and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Dr. Giampaoli graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2012 from the University of Bologna and completed his residency in Urology with honors in 2018 at the same institution. During his specialist training, he developed a strong focus on both medical and surgical management of urinary stone disease, upper and lower urinary tract endourology, prostate diagnostics (including MRI-targeted fusion biopsies), and minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic urological surgery. In 2018, he obtained the Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) diploma. From 2018 to 2020, Dr. Giampaoli led the Urinary Stone Unit at the Centre for Minimally Invasive Urology and Robotic Surgery at the Abano Terme Polyclinic. He then served as Urologist at Sant'Orsola University Hospital in Bologna (2020-2025), developing strong expertise in the complex management of urinary stones, laser and ultra-minimally invasive surgery (MIST) for benign prostatic hyperplasia, and advanced endourological treatment of both malignant and benign urinary tract conditions. Since 2025, he has been Head of the Stone Centre at Humanitas Gavazzeni Castelli - Bergamo, where he focuses on advanced, minimally invasive solutions for urinary stone disease. His current clinical and surgical fields include laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) for BPH, minimally invasive stone treatment (ESWL, ureteroscopic laser lithotripsy, RIRS, standard and mini-PNL), metabolic evaluation of stone disease, endoscopic treatment of bladder tumors (TUR-B} and laser ablation of upper tract urothelial tumors, MRI-fusion prostate biopsies, and laparoscopic and robotic surgery for prostate, renal, and bladder cancers.
